Buy War Bonds!

Trumbul:WarBonds.jpg

The Government’s massive campaign urging Americans to buy war bonds reached the pages of Trumbullog, which published this special cover with its emotional appeal to the young who would be able to embrace the joys of family life once the war was won. War bonds were purchased by 85 million  Americans, yielding $185 billion to help pay for the war, according to published sources.

War bond rallies were held around the country, and many organizations, including the Fort Trumbull school, appealed to everyone to help reach quotas, as seen below in these pages from Trumbullog. The first clipping is probably from 1943.

Two years later the goal was far higher, as seen in the second clipping, from the issue of June 26, 1945.

The war in Europe had ended on May 8, 1945, and the war in the Pacific came to an end two months later, on September 2.
