Portico of Custom House

A recent winter view of New London's Custom House Maritime Museum shows two retired buoys installed in 2014.  While adding a colorful nautical flavor to the streetscape they also honor the long service of the U.S. Coast Guard buoy tender Redwood. For many years the Redwood tied up directly behind the Custom House when not servicing  the navigational aids and lighthouses of eastern Long Island Sound.
