Three large hand-colored engraved charts of Long Island Sound and the Connecticut coastline, acquired in 2012, were special features of the exhibition.  Published in 1855 as aids to navigation, they include tiny engravings of prominent coastal landmarks to assist sea captains in confirming their position. The charts depict the full length of Long Island Sound, from New York's East River to Block Island. A magnifying glass allowed visitors to examine the many pictorial details.
